Research focus

Do predicted savings survive real operation?

Certification can give a project a valuable framework, but Emplan's sustainability model goes further: it asks whether the completed building performs efficiently, can be maintained locally and continues to protect the owner's investment after handover.

The research focuses on HVAC loads, lighting efficiency, building-envelope performance, potable-water demand, rainwater harvesting, greywater reuse and post-occupancy evidence. It is particularly relevant in East Africa, where climate, utility reliability, water security, imported equipment and operational capacity materially affect outcomes.
